Armenian Church of the Holy Nazareth, Kolkata

Built in 1688, Armenian Church of the Holy Nazareth is the oldest place of Christian worship in Kolkata. Armenians settled in India long before the arrival of British. The Church is located close to Howrah Bridge in Burrabazar. It was closed during my visit. While I was walking around the Church compound, I was very careful not to disturb the souls resting in peace. Inside the church compound there is a bust of Harutyun Shmavonyan, who is considered as the father of Armenian journalism.
